As you know I tend to spend a lot of time day dreaming about my future farm. The other day when I was doing that I had what I think is a brilliant idea. After purchasing my land in SomePlace, USA I wouldn't mind having an Airstream trailer to call home for a time. Of course I would update the Airstream so it is modern, light, and airy, so that I could live in it while building a house. I would also want an outdoor room for cooking, eating, and lounging (hello hammock) so that living space is not confined to a narrow Airstream . . . In any case, here are a few photos that inspired this train of thinking.
I've finally found some time to update my humble blog. (Mainly because I'm sick today and I really don't want to be doing homework) Someday I can see myself owning a small (organic) farm/Permaculture homestead. It's a ways in the future for several reasons, so for that time being I'm stuck just daydreams about my future farm. In any case, here are a few photos of farms that inspire me. Myrtle Glen Farm near Myrtle Point, OR. I worked here for a month during summer a few years ago. Such an amazingly beautiful place.
At Bogg's Mountain Homestead also near Myrtle Point, OR.
Ok, I could probably go posting a ton of photos of Myrtle Glen, but I'll leave you with just these few. It is truly a beautiful place and the owner, Dave, did a wonderful job at creating such a magical farm. Here's the link to the farms website, check it out for more photos from Dave!
Yesterday (Monday) I was having kind of a lousy day, mainly due to being splashed/drenched head to toe by a passing car that hit a puddle of snow slush. So as I ambled up my stairs weary from the long day, my mood was instantly peaked when I noticed a brown box at my door. Not expecting any sort of mail (besides junk mail) I was ecstatic when I saw that the box had come from Seed Savers Exchange! I had written to them awhile back about possibly donating seeds to the school gardens I help out with. They ended up being able to donate to our gardens, and gave us 82 seed packets! Now I have thoughts of garden designs, compost, seedlings, veggies, and summer filling my mind. I am very excited to start planting, but am saddened at the same time because I won't be able to see the plants grow and be harvested. Anyways, photos of the precious seeds are bound to appear on my humble blog in the spring. And just to ease my thoughts of vegetable gardens, here's a photo from Sustainable Settings (near Carbondale, CO) that I spent a few weeks at this past summer.
